An employee receives the error message “Cannot request permission for a date as work hours is greater than zero” while submitting a permission request. Why?

Employees can request advance approval for any official work with the Regularization & Permission feature.

The error message Cannot request permission for a date as work hours is greater than zero is displayed when an employee tries to request permission for a specific date, and the total working hours for that date is zero. It means the employee has not fulfilled the set criteria under the option Restrict employees from applying for permission if total work hours is greater than zero hours of the configured permission policy.
