Professional tax (PT) is a tax imposed by state governments in India on individuals who earn a salary or income through a profession, trade, calling, or employment. It is governed by the respective state's Professional Tax Act or Rules.
The Professional Tax slab in the state of Assam is as follows:
Monthly Salary Range | PT per month |
Salary up to Rs.10,000 | NIL |
Salary between Rs.10,001 to Rs. 15,000 | Rs.150 |
Salary between Rs.15,001 to 24,999 | Rs.180 |
Salary Rs. 25,000 and above | Rs. 208 |
