What is meant by employee probation period?

Created by Product Content Team, Modified on Tue, 1 Jul at 1:22 PM by Product Content Team

Probation is a period of trial. Its purpose is to find out the suitability of an employee to hold the post substantively or permanently, based on which the suitability is judged at the time of confirmation.

However, an employee on probation can be terminated during the probation period due to the employee's unsatisfactory performance, and such termination is justified by the employer. Employees within an organization are given security against indiscriminate employment termination and other termination benefits.
