What requirements need to be met for Auto-Shift detection to operate effectively in your greytHR account?

Auto Shift Detection is a functionality that automatically identifies or detects employees’ shifts, including check-in times.

Setting up auto-detect for shifts makes the process of assigning shifts smoother without manual effort. The admin can access the Auto Detect Shift option on the Attendance Scheme page.

To ensure maximum Auto Detect Shift functionality, as an admin you must:

  • Avoid In/Out Margin time overlaps: Avoid overlaps between the out margin timings of one employee's shift and the in margin timings of another.

For example, the Out margin of Employee A's morning shift (1:00 PM) must not overlap with the in margin of Employee B's afternoon shift (1:30 PM). This gap helps to identify the work periods and avoids confusion.

  • Prevent shift time overlaps: Ensure that the end time of one shift does not overlap with the start time of another. This precaution prevents confusion during shift detection.
Note: It is recommended to have at least a one-hour gap to avoid overlaps and streamline the process.

  • Enable In/Out indicators: It is mandatory to enable the In/out indicators for Auto Shift. Without these indicators, the Auto Shift Detection option cannot function. This option identifies the employees’ start and finish shift timings and provides accuracy in shift assignments.
