What is receipt number shown under Quarter Overview of Form 24Q?

Form 24Q provides details of tax deducted at source (TDS) from employee salaries and submitted to the Income Tax Department.

The receipt number shown under Quarter Overview is a 15-digit acknowledgment number. This acknowledgment number is provided after successful authentication of the electronic statement uploaded at the NSDL e-GOV website. This number is termed as a token number and previously it was referred to as a provisional receipt number.
