How can admin generate Form 24Q in greytHR?

Form 24Q contains the details of salary paid and TDS deducted from employees. Form 24Q has to be submitted every quarter of the financial year. It is used to declare the TDS return.
Generating Form 24Q is important for an organization to comply with Indian tax laws and regulations related to employee taxes and deductions


To generate Form 24Q, the admin must perform the following actions:

  1. Update the Form 24Q parameters
    This is a one-time activity. You can perform this activity at the time of filing the returns for the first time on greytHR. You need to redo this activity only if there are any changes to the information. To update the Form 24Q parameters, perform the following actions:
    1. From the greytHR Admin portal, navigate to  Payroll > Admin > Form 24Q. The Form 24Q page opens.
    2. Click the Settings icon available next to the Challans button. The Form 24Q Settings page opens.
      You can also navigate to Home > Settings icon > System Settings > Income Tax > Form 24Q
    3. On the Form 24Q Settings page, fill in the required details under Particulars of Return, Particulars of Deductor (employer), Particulars of the Person Responsible for Deduction of Tax, and Preferences
    4. Click Save to update the Form 24Q parameters.
  2. Add the Challan details
    A Challan is a receipt number provided by the bank where TDS is deposited. To add the challan details, the admin must perform the following actions:
    1. From the greytHR Admin portal, navigate to  Payroll > Admin > Form 24Q. The Form 24Q page opens.
    2. Click Challans. Challans page opens.
    3. Click Add Challan. Add Challan page opens.
    4. Fill in all the details.
    5. Click Save.
    6. Similarly, add the challan details for all the remaining months for the quarter.
  3. Generate CSI file from the e-Filing website
    Now you must download the CSI file from the e-Filing portal. The e-Filing portal provides the Tax Information Network of the Income Tax Department. To generate a CSI file, the admin must perform the following actions:

      1. On the e-Filing portal Home page, click the Login button. The Login page appears. 
      2. In the Enter your User ID textbox, enter your TAN number and password to proceed further. 
      3. On the Dashboard, from the e-file dropdown menu, click the E-Pay Tax option. The E-Pay Tax page appears. 
      4. Click the Payment History tab. A list of all the payments made by the TAN user appears. 
      5. Click the Filter icon. The Filter by pop-up appears. 
      6. From the Payment Date From and To dropdown calendars, select the date range of the payment.
        Note
        1. You can only download the CSI file by filtering challans paid during a specific period and the period must not exceed 24 months.
        2. You cannot download the CSI file by filtering the challans based on Assessment Year and Type of Payment
      7. Click Filter to apply the selected date range. The Download Challan File option gets enabled at the bottom left corner of the page.
        Note: Click Reset to modify the selected date range.
      8. Click the Download Challan File/Click here option to download the file. The file downloads successfully.
  4. Upload the CSI file in greytHR and generate FVU
    To upload the CSI file and generate the FVU, the admin must perform the following actions:
    1. From the greytHR Admin portal, navigate to  Payroll > Admin > Form 24Q. The Form 24Q page opens.
    2. Click the relevant quarter. Form 24Q Filing tab appears.
    3. Click Generate FVU checklist, before you generate the Form 24Q. The popup appears.
    4. Click Upload File. Select the CSI file you have downloaded from the e-Filing website.
    5. Click Ok, Generate FVU
