What is the meaning of In Margin, Out Margin, Grace In Time, and Grace Out Time?

The terms such as In Margin, Out Margin, Grace In Time, and Grace Out Time are used while configuring a shift.


The explanation of the terms is as follows:

  1. In Time: In Time refers to the fixed time set up for the employees to report for a session.
  2. Out Time: Out Time refers to the fixed time set up for the employees to leave a session.
  3. In Margin: It is the extra time allotted to consider the swipes before a shift starts. For example, if a shift starts at 9 am with a 2-hour in-margin, the system will include swipes recorded from 7 am onwards.
  4. Out Margin: It is the extra time allotted to consider the swipes after a shift ends. For instance, if a shift ends at 5 pm with a 2-hour out-margin, the system will include swipes recorded until 7 pm for attendance calculation.
  5. Grace In Time: It refers to the duration of time allowed for employees to arrive late or leave early.
  6. Grace Out Time: It is the duration during which employees are allowed to leave work after their scheduled shift has ended.
  7. Minimum hours to mark present It is the minimum number of hours that an employee must work to be marked as present. If the employee fails to match the set minimum hours, then they are marked as absent for that shift.
