What is a split shift?

Created by Product Content Team, Modified on Wed, 18 Jun at 12:08 PM by Product Content Team

A split shift is a work schedule that breaks down the employees’ daily working hours into two or more separate sessions with longer break hours. These sessions can be of different lengths as opposed to the sessions in the regu.

The split shift concept is commonly used in industries requiring irregular working hours, such as construction, hospitality, healthcare, and manufacturing.

For example, a nurse might have to work from 10.00 PM to 2.00 AM, take a break during the night and come back for a morning shift from 8.00 AM to 12.00 PM.
