Professional tax is a tax imposed by state governments in India on individuals engaged in various professions, trades, or employment.

By default, the greytHR application is configured to disable Professional Tax deduction from the Director's salary. You must configure the employee as director in the application to permanently disable the Professional Tax deduction from his/ her salary.

To configure an employee as a director, the admin must perform the following actions:

  1. From the greytHR Admin login, navigate to Employee > Information > Employee Profile. The Employee Profile page opens.
  2. From the Search Employee search box, search the director's profile.
  3. On the Personal Information card, click the Edit icon. The card expands.
  4. Select the Is Director check box.
  5. Click Save to permanently disable the Professional Tax deduction from Director's salary.
